Karmen Swanson MSOTR/L
I am an occupational therapist with 2 years of experience in hand therapy, which I have gained working alongside CHTs. I am moving to the LA area, as my partner has relocated down there for work. I am excited to experience more of the therapy world and deepen my skill sets by working with other therapists in a new area.

Paid experience
I have gained most of my experience working in a therapist-owned private hand therapy clinic. Their caseload ranges from post-surgical (including tendon repair; rotator cuff repair; open reductions; and internal fixations of the radius, humerus, metacarpals, and phalanx), to treatment of traumatic injuries (including closed fractures and sprains), to treatment of repetitive strain injuries (including tendonosis, osteoarthritis, and nerve compression). They receive referrals from many different doctors and as a result, I have experience reaching out to MDs and MAs for treatment planning purposes. In addition, I have gained experience in both static and dynamic orthotic fabrication.

Continuing Education
I have taken classes on the Management of the Stiff Arm put on by Advance Rehab Seminars and on the Graston Technique for instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization.

Employment Logistics
I have already applied for my California Occupational Therapy License, and am looking into paperwork  I will need to start working towards my California Hand Therapy License.

I am interested in part or full time work. I will be living near the Long Beach Area, and I am not opposed to commuting 1-1.5 hours or more for the right job.

You can contact me at this email address: and we can set up a time to talk over the phone.
